The 39,000 sqm store (equivalent to 20 football fields) with car parking for 1775 cars and 2.5 km of shopping, sits on a 2.3 hectare site and is located in Tempe – South West of Sydney CBD.
The two level rectangular shaped building comprises:
- A bulky goods showroom
- Unlicensed restaurant (approximate capacity for 750 people)
- Children’s play area
- Warehouse
- Swedish food market
- Office space
- Public amenities and loading dock.
The project is unique in that it was constructed on an old rubbish tip site. A seven hundred metre methane gas wall was constructed to allow ventilation of the methane gases underneath a portion of the new building.
The existing heritage listed ATECO building and clock tower has been retained for use as IKEA’s headquarters, which will ensure the local character and visual amenity of the area is conserved. The project design is also highly focused on encouraging the pedestrian and cycle traffic to IKEA through the use of regional cycle paths through the site.
Ropes Crossing Neighbourhood Centre

The Ropes Crossing Neighbourhood Centre was constructed on a 12,340 square metre greenfield site and is part of the development of the old ammunitions factory land at St Mary’s. The works included :Coles supermarket, specialty shops, on-grade car parking for 184 vehicles, landscaping to the car park and open areas, shade structure to the car park and utility infrastructure to and around the development. The project was handed over in three separate stages to allow tenancy fitout to be completed in time for Christmas trading.
Harvey Norman Hoppers Crossing

A retail facility of approx. 5500m2 with a warehouse of approx 1200m2. The development also includes 3 additional retail facilities of approx 4400m2. Incorporated within the space will be amenities blocks including kitchen facilities
and a new office at first floor level within the showroom.
Nike Concept Store

Nike Melbourne was the first retail outlet for Nike Australia Pty Ltd. Situated on the corner of Bourke and Swanston Street in the city, the outlet maintains a high profile position in keeping with a high profile interior. An overall floor area of 1900 square metres (approx. 1300 as front of house space) the outlet is set up over two floors.
Melbourne Airport Short Term Carpark

Construction of a three storey concrete structure carpark, providing undercover parking for 3,500 cars, serviced by four ramps for vehicle entry and exit, three
service cores consisting of stairs, toilets and six elevators plus eight fire escape stairs. The project was carried out in two stages with Stage 1 completed December 1996 to allow access to Stage 2. The carpark also comprised one of the most sophisticated car operating access and counting equipment plus high-tech security monitoring facilities.
