Surf Coast Community and Civic Precinct Stage 1

Registered for a Greenstar office design rating and targeting a 5 Star rating , this project includes the construction of the new Surf Coast Shire Council offices and associated roadways, landscaping and wetland construction.  In addition to the new Shire offices a new sports precinct is to be constructed including an AFL ground, a synthetic soccer field, four Netball courts and associated sports pavilion.

Dow Chemicals R & D Centre

Three buildings comprising Dow’s 88,000m2 R&D Centre. The larger buildings are the R&D building and the Administration building and the smallest is the Central Utilities Building (CUB).   The R&D and Administration buildings include undercover car park, 64 light laboratories and 1 heavy laboratory, offices, a 700 seat restaurant, Gymnasium, Presidents suite and Badminton court.
The building has an open area through the center with a glass atrium roofprotecting the space.
The CUB building houses the High Voltage and Low Voltage Electrical rooms, Boiler room, Ice chiller tank, Chillers and Fire protection room and holding tank etc.

88 George Street Refurbishment

The Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority (SHFA) appointed Cockram as construction contractor for the refurbishment of a six-level heritage building at 86-88 George Street, The Rocks. SHFA is responsible for Sydney’s most historically and culturally significant waterfront locations. This project involved the demolition and construction works to refurbish the basement, ground floor, level 1, level 4, level 5 and the external podium.  Each floor is approximately 2,200 square metres. It included the replacement of all services including a new passenger lift. Extensive protection of heritage features and fittings was required during the construction works, as well as minimising noise and disruption to both the existing tenants in the building and visitors to The Rocks.

Building 7 Botannica Corporate Park

Design and construction of Base Building of 4 levels of office and 2 levels of basement carpark including 1 level for plantroom, total of 7 levels.
The building achieved an ABGR rating of 4.5 stars and Greenstar rating of 4.0 stars for design.

Reserve Bank of Australia – Stage 1 and 2 Fitout

The Reserve Bank of Australia head office is located in a 1960s building in Martin Place.  The building is listed on the Commonwealth Heritage List and Register of the National Estate.  Stage 1 of the project involved the demolition of existing amenities including stairs and the decommissioning and recommissioning of the bank’s PABX.  The fitout works involved the construction of offices, new amenities, installation of workstations and associated mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire services on the ground floor and level 1.  Stage 2 consists of the refurbishment and fitout of two levels – level 4 and level 9 delivered in three separable portions.  The works involved demolition and replacement of some mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire services, and a complete office fitout including the restoration of ceilings, new partitions and workstations. The building remained occupied throughout the refurbishment works.

Hume City Council Offices

A new owner-occupied office building for Hume City Council.  The building is 6 storeys plus a plant level and basement carparking and storage and is approximately 6,000m2.  The project is designed to achieve a Greenstar (TM) rating of 5, and the building design and materials are consistent with this.

Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) and Australian Industrial Registry (AIR)

A relocation to 11 Exhibition Street consisting of 6 levels of fitout incorporating 2 floors of offices, 2 floors of Judges’ / Associates’ chambers with own en-suites and 2 floors of courtrooms,12 courts in total. Audio Visual conferencing is a highlight of the technology used in 4 of these courts.  A lower-ground reception area has also been re-developed.
The courtrooms and chambers comprise of high level finishes, with veneered timber walls and furniture throughout. Judges’ also have private access to the building from the street, to the court areas and to their chambers.

Roche Head Office and Conference Centre

The project for Roche Products included the construction and fitout of a multi level commercial building with gross floor area of 4,800sqm, refurbishment of the existing administration building and cafeteria, car parks and modifications to warehousing buildings, complete with complex building and process services installations.  Key to the project is the integration of environmentally sustainable initiatives with the design and operation of the facility.  The project was delivered in an operating facility. Continuity of the existing operations was paramount thus an integrated operations and construction schedule was developed in cooperation with Roche Products.  The site is also a highly secure facility which required project conformance to various security procedures and protocols. Cockram developed special training and induction programs with Roche Products.

Harvey Norman Hoppers Crossing

A retail facility of approx. 5500m2 with a warehouse of approx 1200m2. The development also includes 3 additional retail facilities of approx 4400m2. Incorporated within the space will be amenities blocks including kitchen facilities
and a new office at first floor level within the showroom.

Nike Concept Store

VIC – Australia

Nike Melbourne was the first retail outlet for Nike Australia Pty Ltd. Situated on the corner of Bourke and Swanston Street in the city, the outlet maintains a high profile position in keeping with a high profile interior.  An overall floor area of 1900 square metres (approx. 1300 as front of house space) the outlet is set up over two floors.

Melbourne Airport Short Term Carpark

August 1997 ($42.0M)
VIC – Australia

Construction of a three storey concrete structure carpark, providing undercover parking for 3,500 cars, serviced by four ramps for vehicle entry and exit, three
service cores consisting of stairs, toilets and six elevators plus eight fire escape stairs.  The project was carried out in two stages with Stage 1 completed December 1996 to allow access to Stage 2. The carpark also comprised one of the most sophisticated car operating access and counting equipment plus high-tech security monitoring facilities.
