Our WA division has recently been awarded the Hammond Park Primary School Project for the Department of Education, valued at $12 million. The government school will be located in the growing suburb of Hammond Park, south of Perth. The project consists of the construction of 4 Teaching Blocks, Administration Centre, Library, Canteen/Covered Assembly, Hardcourts and Oval, Staff and Visitor Parking. The use of a distinctive motif in face brickwork will provide the school its own unique identity.

We have recently been awarded the Middle Swan and Clayton View Early Childhood Learning Centres, valued at $4.5 million. The 2 sites are part of a larger rollout of Family Centres being developed in WA. Located at Middle Swan Primary School, Stratton, facilities will include a family centre, crèche and health consulting rooms. Clayton View Primary School in Koongamia will offer child care among other services.

RAAF Pearce Ordnance Storage Facility

Esslemont is pleased to be awarded the RAAF Pearce Facility project valued at $1.45 million. RAAF Base Pearce is the main Royal Australian Air Force base in Western Australia and is used for training by the RAAF and the Republic of Singapore Air Force. RAAF Base Pearce is approximately 60km north of Perth at Bullsbrook. The purpose of the Storage Facility is to build a purpose designed facility to increase quantities that are able to be safely stored on the site.

Sutherland Dianella Primary School

Our WA division was awarded the Sutherland Dianella Primary School Administration Building project valued at just under $1 million. The School is located in the northern suburbs of Perth and will be our 6th successfully completed project for the WA Government at this location. We have taken the building to lock-up stage and will complete the project by mid April.

Sir Charles Gairdner - Adult Mental Health Unit

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital – Mental Health Unit

Our WA division is very pleased to be awarded the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital new Adult Mental Health Unit project valued at $22 million. This unit will replace the existing facility and offer contemporary and integrated mental health care. It will be a state-of-the-art facility providing a modern and pleasant setting for patients and staff. The project is due for completion by 2014.

The QEII Medical Viewing Facility and J Block Mortuary alterations project for the Western Australian Government is located at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Nedlands. The construction of the singe storey building includes waiting and viewing rooms, lift facilities to access the existing mortuary, reception, plantroom and toilet facilities. The existing mortuary will be occupied whilst construction works are in progress.

Statewide Services Centre

Esslemont Cockram were recently awarded the Statewide Services Centre for the Western Australian Government. Located in Perth’s northern suburbs, the site is the former Padbury Senior High School which will be refurbished to accommodate almost 300 professionals from different fields including experts in speech and language, hearing impediments and psychology to provide a complete range of specialist services to students and all contained within the one centre. There are 18 buildings with varying degrees of refurbishment required and stage 1 is to be completed by mid February 2013.

Challenger Institute of Technology

Rockingham, WA – Australia

The Challenger Institute of Technology – Rockingham Campus project involves the addition of multiple new buildings on a greenfield site as well as an internal strip and refurbishment of existing buildings. The new building works including Blocks T, U, V include also additional covered walkways, roads, carparks and landscaping. In addition to the new buildings there is also a significant amount of refurbishment and extension works to existing facilities including involving the removal of hazardous materials. The project will be carried out whilst the general campus in full operation with a targeted completion date of December 2013.

Swan Street, North Fremantle

Esslemont Cockram have commenced works on this modern office block development in Swan Street, North Fremantle. The development consists of ground floor parking, with car stacker lifts to gain extra parking capacity. The first and second floors are primarily office space with large balconies providing superb views of the Fremantle Port.

National Training Areas & Ranges Improvement Programme (NTARIP)

Esslemont Cockram was contracted by the Department of Defence to carry out a range of civil, general maintenance and radar system upgrade in the four locations North of Perth. The works formed one part of a major range improvement program being executed across Australia, at the same time
The scope of works included many kilometers of roads upgrades and general facilities improvements as well as the installation of technically complex radar systems. These systems were designed and installed within Cockrams contract including a portion of work that was leading edge technology, the first time ever installed in Australian defence ranges.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Transit Ward Reconfiguration

Esslemont Cockram is delivering the construction of a reconfigured Transit Ward at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth. The works involves a refurbishment to the Chapel, Chaplains Office, Lounge, Trolley Bays and other facilities in the Transit Ward.
The work is being carried out in the middle of an operational area of the hospital requiring careful coordination between many parties including the hospital staff, construction workers and the general public. The project is critical in nature in that full hospital operations must continue uninterrupted whilst the works take place.

Applecross Senior High School Redevelopment

The Applecross Senior High School Redevelopment project consists of the construction of a new building and the refurbishment of existing facilities. The school was built in 1958 and is heritage listed. The project is staged over 6 separable portions with an estimated completion date of 27 February, 2015. Estimated value of the project is $40m.
One of the biggest challenges of the project is ensuring that the school staff/students are not impacted in their day to day activities. The school staff and students will be moved around progressively to accommodate the construction stages.

Freshwater Bay Primary School

Esslemont Cockram’s work at the Freshwater Bay Primary School saw it deliver a completely modern interior outlook to the old traditional Administration and Junior Primary Buildings.
The building was well known in the local area for its age and heritage features. In conjunction with the Designers, the Esslemont Cockram team was able to modernise the facility to meet with today’s demanding educational standards whilst keep the original feel of the older buildings. The project was completed on time and within budget to the satisfaction of the client team and WA government building departments.

Sutherland Dianella Primary School

December 2011 ($5.67M)
Dianella, WA – Australia

The Sutherland Dianella Primary School consisted of a staged replacement of existing school teaching blocks with 3 new teaching blocks and construction of a new Library building.
The project was delivered on time and to an extremely high level of quality. The project team was required to deal with many issues including the construction in and around an operating school environment and the removal of asbestos during demolition stage.
The project included renovation of some of the other remaining existing buildings, construction of new tennis courts, assembly areas, together with soft and hard landscaping.

Comet Bay Primary School EC Annex

Esslemont Cockram has delivered the forward works for the Comet Bay Primary School Annex as well as refurbishment works to the transportable buildings.
Comet Bay Primary School Annex is an Early Childhood Centre that provides teaching facilities to Pre-Primary children. The project involved not only the development of the school buildings and grounds but also extensive civil and road works outside the school, for the local council.
The project was delivered on time and budget to the satisfaction of the consultant engineering team, client and BMW.
